Yuma's little secret

Our arrival and initial thoughts

Big Dogs is a brand new hot dog stand that offers a whole lot in a small package. The owners are super friendly and make you feel as if you've known them for ages. They'll help you fix up your hot dog and even let us in on the secret to their awesome hot dogs: the buns are specially made for them. They offer a very different menu, including corn dogs, hamburgers, hot dogs and a few other choice items. The hot dog buns are from a Mexican bakery that we suspect is run by their family. Their tables were wobbly and the place was a bit dark, semi-comfy, semi-creepy. There's a taco place just off to the left, and the place is lit well enough when both places are open.

The day we went to review the place, we were on a mission to hit a minimum of four places, so we were only limited to the hot dogs, otherwise we would get too full. The hot dogs are offered with or without melted cheese, chili beans, mayo, mustard, relish, onions and tomato. You don't just get a small sprinkling of those items, you get your full day's serving of vegetables with each selection, and one hot dog will be more than enough for most people.

The Food

The hot dogs are definitely worth the $2.00 price tag. The buns are different from other places. They aren't the typical hot dog buns, but a sweeter and denser bun, one that can hold up to the huge amount of weight piled on top. It was nice to have the hot dog fit the bun for once.

Conclusion

Not holding the wild decor against them (fish painted on cinder block walls), we were completely satisfied and will definitely be returning very soon.

Overall Grade

Big Dogs earns a 4. Definitely worth getting mugged for. The hot dogs live up to their name, lets hope the rest of their menu does also.
